Students work with nationally and internationally renowned trainers right here on campus.
Over 100 horses reside at our facility, so students have the opportunity to work with many different breeds, such as warm bloods, Thoroughbreds, Quarter horses, and Friesians.
Horses are brought in from the midwest for students to train one-on-one, in addition to our university-owned horses.
JOB & INTERNSHIP PLACEMENT
Our equestrian students can land specialized positions nationally and internationally in areas like journalism, training, event planning, business, breeding, marketing, and research.
Students begin caring for and riding horses in their very first year and are given five days of assigned time at the barn to care for and ride their horses each week.
Our James L. Child Jr. Equestrian Complex boasts three prestigious indoor riding arenas, a jumping field with a new cross country course, an equine hospital and pharmacy, 155 stalls, and wash racks with hot and cold water.
Our IHSA Hunt Seat team has been national reserve champion five times since 2002. Our IDA team has consistently ranked in the top 10 over the past five years.
