The English program provides strong reading and writing skills coupled with experiential learning that are vital to all career paths.
At UF, you can select from four different emphases in English. These include the following choices:
- Creative Writing
- General Writing
Students have the opportunity to contribute to, edit and produce From the Writers’ Kitchen, the University’s exclusive literary journal.
The University of Findlay also publishes an international literary journal, Slippery Elm, that allows students as well as the public to submit their works.
English majors can apply to join Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honor Society, which offers scholarships and other benefits

STUDENT RUN MAGAZINE
UF’s literary magazine, From the Writer’s Kitchen, provides experience to students that write, edit, publish and distribute each edition.
NOTABLE GUEST AUTHORS
Students enjoy unique oppor- tunities such as interacting with visiting notable authors such as Denise Duhamel.
UF has a chapter of Sigma Tau Delta which is the National English honor society to recognize distinction for high achievement in English language, literature, and writing.
Slippery Elm is UF’s national literary journal that allows students to be involved from submission to publication with internship opportunities available.
